Productivity studies

The objective of productivity studies is to audit the processes and procedures of a business to identify areas of unproductivity. Our team of industrial engineers, HR and marketing specialists will audit organisation structure, human resource management, business and industrial processes, factory lay-out and marketing strategies. Problem areas will be identified and recommendations made in a holistic way. The realities of the organisation will be taken into account ensuring that the recommended interventions are achievable within the available means.

 

 

Course name: Basic Business Principles

Target group: Operational level employees  

 

Duration: Five days

 

Outcomes: At the end of the course the learners will:

 

Understand how the primary components of a business work and how it combines to make a business successful. Attention will be paid to the five M’s of business:

 
  • Markets
  • Men
  • Machines
  • Money
  • Material
As well as the business environment the business will be in.  

 

Productive Teamwork

The Productive Teamwork course will not only address the team behaviour of employees, it will impact on how teams function. The team will amongst other things receive a set of templates to be used to document their performance and calculate improvements and declines in productivity. This course can also be presented as a Train the Trainer-course.

 

Course name: Productive Teamwork

 

Target group: Operational employees, new employees on an induction course

 

Duration: Four and a half days

 

Outcomes: At the end of the course the group will:

 
  • Understand the role of small groups in the organisation
  • Know how their attitude and behaviour will impact on the sustained success of the organisation
  • Know how to document performance and do basic calculations
  • Be able to conduct a productive and participative meeting within a limited time
  • Understand the difference between hand-over meetings, planning meetings and information meetings
  • Know how to communicate effectively in the group and use the notice board in  their meeting area effectively .
After the training the group will use the templates in their meeting area to record their performance.

 

Business creation

 

It is often said the most effective way to push away the boundaries of poverty and create wealth for all is to enable more people to start and sustain their own businesses. Unfortunately it is a known fact that most entrepreneurial business fail due to a lack of business skills.

 

Starting and growing your own business

The purpose of this course is to enable prospecting and current businessmen and women to start and grow a business that will give them pleasure and contribute to their and the country’s wealth. 

Course name: Small business development

 

Target group: Would-be entrepreneurs and people less than two years in business

 

Duration: Five half days or evenings and one follow-up Saturday

 

Outcomes: At the end of the course the people will be able to:

 
  • Apply management principles – plan, organise, implement, control
  • Identify or develop a feasible product or service
  • Market and sell
  • Manage the finances
  • Deal with the rules and regulations that affect their businesses
  • Balance the business and their personal lives.
 

Business skills

 

By means of mentoring and coaching or training a business person will be able to address specific development needs. It could be to improve their marketing or selling skill, to improve their understanding of electronic marketing or financial management. Various business skills courses will be presented throughout the year.

 

Protocol

Personal assistance will be provided to people who want to do business in Africa. They will be introduced to the social and the business culture. They will not only be trained in the appropriate behaviour, their products will also be analysed for the appropriateness of the packaging and the marketing campaign.

 

Africa initiatives

African Competitive Initiatives also provides a service to assist business people to identify potential markets in Africa. They will be introduced to potential suppliers or customers and assisted with import or export requirements.
